The Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis methods are complementary exercise methods that fall under one umbrella- the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM®. Developed by Juliu Horvath, an ethnic Hungarian, professional dancer from Romania. Horvath suffered a series of debilitating injuries during his dance career, and began developing what are now known as the GYROTONIC® and GYROKINESIS® Methods as a way to heal himself and regain his strength and agility.
Both Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis exercise sequences are composed of spiraling, circular movements, which flow together seamlessly in rhythmic repetitions, with corresponding breath. Each movement flows into the next, allowing the joints to move through a natural range of motion without jarring or compression. These carefully crafted sequences create balance, efficiency, strength and flexibility.

The GYROKINESIS® method is a movement method that gently works the entire body, opening energy pathways, stimulating the nervous system, increasing range of motion, and creating functional strength through rhythmic, flowing movement sequences. It is an original, and unique movement practice which has roots in Yoga, Tai Chi, gymnastics, and dance. The GYROKINESIS® method is practiced in group or private classes under the instruction of a certified GYROKINESIS® Trainer, and can also be practiced at home.

JSB®, Jumping-Stretching Board : A broad range of exercise sequences and modification options make the Jumping-Stretching Board accessible to people of all levels of strength and flexibility. Due to its versatility, and popularity with clients, this is often the first piece of specialized equipment added to a GYROTONIC® studio.
The exercise sequences are composed of full body, functional exercises, performed in a variety of body positions- kneeling, standing, lying and sitting. A diverse range of standing exercises improve flexibility, coordination, and functional strength. The ergonomic, gliding platform allows users to experience running, and jumping in a low impact, horizontal plane, with the spine and pelvis fully supported, making it ideal for post injury exercise. Four independent gliding slides, with optional rotating platforms, provide for challenging strength and coordination sequences.

Juliu Horvath developed the movements that one can perform on the GYROTONER® so that various muscle groups, tendons and ligaments in the spine,arms, hips, legs and ankles, among other body parts, could be strengthened and stretched simultaneously while the user consciously engages breathing patterns when executing the movements. The energy channels running throughout the body are thus stimulated, and the overall effect on the mind and body can be profound.

GYROTONIC® for the Fascial Body
This intensive workshop gives GYROTONIC® Trainers the means to deepen their knowledge about the interaction between the vocabulary of the GYROTONIC® Method and fascial training. In this workshop, participants hone their vocabulary and evaluation skills in a supportive group setting. Students learn to identify fundamental fascial patterns through structured assessment of the human body. Principles of anatomy, biomechanics and Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation are incorporated. Students will learn to pinpoint physical efforts,to increase training selections. and to build upon concepts they're already using in their Gyrotonic sessions.
