For those of you unfamiliar with the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM®, this movement system was developed from the late 1970s to early 1980s. Becoming official in 1984, the first studio was established in New York City as the White Cloud Studio. In 2013, the movement system is taught in over 2500 studios and in 52 countries. It embraces key principles also found in swimming, dance, yoga, tai chi, and gymnastics. The GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® or GXS, emphasizes continuous flowing movements that are synchronized with corresponding breath patterns.
Since 1984, the GXS has been capturing the attention of elite athletes, dancers, movement professionals and the general population around the world. This system offers a way to rehabilitate and strengthen old and new injuries or to feel a deeper connection while simultaneously strengthening and stretching your body. Watch a short video HERE.

How hard is it to use the Gyrotonic machine? It depends on how comfortable you are with exercise equipment and exercise in general. These machines are very user-friendly once you learn to set them up for your individualized workouts. Generally, the trainer sets you up with machines so you focus on the exercise.
Will it help me lose weight? The Gyrotonic and Gyrokinesis system tones and strengthens the body in addition to improving your posture, making you appear slimmer, leaner, and longer. If your goals include weight loss, you will need to include changes in diet and additional aerobic exercise.
